Project Snowbank is an entirely student-led snowsuit drive, based out of Glebe Collegiate Institute. This is the project’s second year running, after a very successful snowsuit drive last year, thanks to the generosity of the community.
The students leading Project Snowbank are reaching out to Glebe neighbourhoods, once again, for engaged community members who’d like to donate winter clothing, such as outgrown jackets, snow-pants, mitts, hats, boots, and more. All donations go the project’s local charities partners, the Ottawa Snowsuit Fund, and the Maison Marie-Louise foundation, both of who help underprivileged and vulnerable children and families in Ottawa.
Project Snowbank is also partnering with the Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group, to help with donation collections, and collaborating with multiple community centers across Ottawa to amplify the initiative. This year, the project is also expanding to Toronto, where Glebe CI is challenging a sister-school, Bishop Allen Academy, to run a snowsuit drive under the Project Snowbank name, to inspire friendly inter-city competition regarding which school can raise the most donations for charity.
The snowsuit drive will be running from November 3rd – 24th, 2025. Donations can be dropped off at the Glebe Neighborhood Activity Group (GNAG) center (175 Third Avenue, Ottawa) and at Glebe Collegiate Institute (212 Glebe Ave, Ottawa). More donation drop-box locations may be confirmed at a later date.
