Accessibility in The Glebe
The Glebe is a neighbourhood for everyone. With thousands of people visiting the area to shop, dine, attend events and enjoy everyday activities, we want to make it easier for people of all abilities to move through, explore and enjoy everything the neighbourhood has to offer.
The Glebe BIA is committed to working with the business community to improve accessibility and inclusion throughout the neighbourhood, while helping local businesses identify and address barriers that may affect their customers. By increasing awareness of accessible spaces, supporting businesses with practical improvements and creating a more welcoming visitor experience, we can help more people confidently shop, dine and spend time in the Glebe.
Our goal is to create meaningful, long-term improvements that make the Glebe more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
Entrance Ramps
Many shops in the Glebe use temporary, portable ramps to make their entrances easier to access for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. Introduced through the Glebe BIA, these ramps help bridge the step at storefronts that weren’t originally built for step-free entry.
The following stores have deployable entrance ramps: Glebe Central Pub, Irene’s Pub, Knifewear, Third Avenue Spa.
If you’d like a ramp put in place, please let store staff know as they are happy to set one up on request.
