Union of National Employees
At the Union of National Employees, we believe diversity is what makes us stronger. We represent more than 23 000 members, working in 70 different workplaces. Our members work in the public, private and non-profit sectors, in all corners of our great country and around the world.
We are teachers and mechanics, librarians and foreign service officers, plumbers and researchers, clerical workers and program administrators, passport officers and investigators —and more.
Our union exists to protect, promote and serve the interests of our members in all sectors, placing a greater focus on workers’ rights and human rights. Working together, we aim to improve our members’ lives and, by extension, those of the larger Canadian public.
The Union of National Employees is one of 15 components within the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). The PSAC’s component structure is organized to bring together members, most of whom work for the federal government and its agencies.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada is one of Canada’s largest unions, representing more than 172,000 people from coast to coast and members working abroad in embassies and consulates. A growing number of PSAC members work for private sector enterprises and in the broader public sector including universities, women’s shelters, and others.
