Six New Businesses You Need to Visit this Fall

October 6, 2026

Summer may be over, but we have a few new Glebe businesses to introduce you to! New businesses are bringing plenty of variety to the Glebe, from tiramisu and sustainable fashion, to crystals and coffee, rehearsal space, strength training and physiotherapy.

Strati Tiramisu

891 Bank Street

Some shops do a little of everything. Strati Tiramisu does one thing extremely well, and that is tiramisu. Owner Nadia builds her layers (that's what strati means in Italian), in a range of flavors beyond the classic. So plan on a few return visits to work through them all. Consider it your new favorite excuse for a Bank Street stroll.

Pokoloko

797 Bank Street

Pokoloko has built a loyal following in Westboro and beyond with their ethically made, small-batch goods in natural materials. They arrived in the Glebe as a summer pop up, and we're thrilled to say that they are here to stay. Think soft cotton basics, cozy sweaters, scarves and hats, plus blankets, towels, and robes for your around the house. It's the kind of place where you stop and for a gift and leave with something for yourself 2.

Altared: An Emporium of Good Things

769 Bank Street (Main Floor)

Part cafe, part boutique, part third space, Altared opened this summer with a simple idea: give people a place that isn't home or work. 'Their staff pour coffee, tea, horchata and a rotating lineup of witchy brews", surrounded by crystals, herbs, slow fashion and wellness goods sourced from small women-owned businesses.

The calendar is just as eclectic, with DJ parties, poetry workshops, craft sessions, concerts and cocktail nights. "We're not your home or work but a separate space to come gather together" owner Janet Nicol told the Glebe report.

Second Avenue Studio

769 Bank Street (Basement)

Musicians, meet your new rehearsal space. Created by Myles and Austin Walls, two musicians who built the studio with fellow artists in mind. Second Avenue Studio offers a clean, sound treated room for band practice, podcast recording and content creation, and is bookable for a single session or on a monthly basis. The walls are built to keep the sound in, so your drummer can finally go for it.

One Academy

900 Bank Street

Toronto fitness studio One Academy has brought its signature HiFLUX strength and conditioning classes to the Glebe. Every 60-minute class is professionally coached and built for everyone from beginners to seasoned athletes. If group classes aren't your thing, they also offer one-on-one personal training. The perks don't hurt either: showers, towel service and the OA Cafe for post-workout refuel. Their motto is "We are stronger as one," and a two-week unlimited trial is the easiest way to put it to the test.

Physiomax Health

619 Bank Street

After building a following at their South Keys clinic, Physiomax Health has opened its second location in the Glebe. Led by owner and physiotherapist Shikha, they offer individualized, research-driven physiotherapy for orthopedic and sports injuries, concussion and vestibular rehab, prenatal and postnatal care, pediatric physio and more. Whether you're bouncing back from a weekend game gone sideways or finally dealing with that nagging shoulder, help is now just steps away from your favorite Bank Street shops.

Keep an Eye Out

Octopus Books has been running a summer pop-up at 763 Bank Street, stocked with books and gifts you won't find at their Third Avenue shop. The pop-up is keeping the space warm for Purebread, a local staple at the Ottawa Farmers' Market, as it prepares for its first retail location. Catch the pop-up while you can. Over at Lansdowne, Ajisen Ramen is on its way with their first Ottawa location. Nuovo Photography will also be opening a location at Lansdowne. The fine art portrait studio is known for empowering self-love, couples and maternity sessions, each with a signature look created by a Nuovo makeup artist.

As you welcome these new members to our business community, we're reminded of what makes the Glebe such a special place to liv, work and play. We encourage you all to stop by these new establishments and show them the warm welcome our community is known for!

Welcome to the Glebe, and here's to many successful years ahead!
