It’s Glebe Spree Time!

November 7, 2022 by theglebe

Our most popular neighbourhood contest is back this holiday season!

Whether you’re checking off your family and friends who made the “nice” list this holiday or treating yourself after a long year, the Glebe is the place to do it. You’ll be supporting amazing local businesses and giving yourself the chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree!

If you’re new to the Glebe Spree, playing – and winning – is simple. Beginning November 15, pick up a Glebe Spree passport at any participating business and start shopping. For every $15 spent in the Glebe, you will receive a sticker for your passport. Once you’ve collected $150 worth of stickers, enter your completed ballot at any participating store. You can enter as many times as you like, so do your Christmas shopping, dining and relaxing in the Glebe to increase your chances of winning.

The Grand Prize is the big one, but there are a few other ways to win. Early shoppers will have a chance to win a $2,500 Early Bird Prize if they enter the contest by December 4 at midnight. All Early Bird ballots will be re-entered into the $10,000 Grand Prize, with a December 31 deadline, to be drawn January 13, 2023.

The popular Any Day Prize giveaway is back this year. It gives shoppers a chance to win a $100 gift card just by walking into a Glebe shop. There are secret times and locations set up throughout the neighbourhood and if you pop into the right store at the right time – you could win a quick $100.

Support the businesses in the Glebe and don’t forget your stickers!”
Joy Kardish, 2021 Glebe Spree Grand Prize Winner

And if you’re wondering how to win the Grand Prize $10,000 Glebe shopping spree, there’s no secret to success according to last year’s winner, Joy Kardish. “If people want to win, they must support the businesses in the Glebe and not forget to get your stickers!”. Glebe works to incentivize shoppers to bring their business to the smaller mom and pop shops, rather than the big box stores. A win for the shopper, a win for the business, and a win for the Glebe!

If you’re looking for recommendations on where to shop in the Glebe, Kardish has a few, “I could say most stores, but mostly McKeen Metro, Bloomfields, Whole Foods, Third Avenue Spa, Home Hardware, Magpie, Davidson’s Jewellers, Glebe Meat Market, Glebe Trotters, J. D. Adam, Cantina Gia, Flippers, 107 Fourth Ave Wine Bar, Wild Oat, and Nicastro’s.”

This year’s Glebe Spree starts November 15 at 8 a.m. and runs until December 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Good luck and season’s greetings!
