Rideau Canal Skateway

Every winter, the Rideau Canal transforms into the world’s largest naturally frozen skating rink. Spanning from Downtown Ottawa to Dow’s Lake, the rink currently runs 7.8 km along some of Ottawa’s most iconic and picturesque neighbourhoods. With numerous stairway and universal access points, including ten in the Glebe, this is the perfect winter destination for everyone. Enjoy equipment rentals, food and beverage vendors, and stunning views as you glide along the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ontario. When it’s open, the skateway is free and accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
