The Great Glebe Garage Sale Returns!

April 27, 2023

The Great Glebe Garage Sale returns to the neighbourhood on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine!

Residents of the Glebe participate in one of North America's largest garage sales, selling various items from their front lawns and driveways. Businesses along Bank Street join in on the fun and create pop-up booths to sell their goods. This collaboration between residents and businesses makes for a wonderful thrifting community in the Glebe!

The Great Glebe Garage Sale has been held in the Glebe since 1986, and since the very beginning, the Glebe Community Association has encouraged participants (residents, vendors, shoppers, businesses) to donate to the Ottawa Food Bank. This year is no different, and the community need is higher than ever. For every $1 donated, the Ottawa Food Bank can provide approximately $5 worth of food to the community.

You can make an online donation to the Ottawa Food Bank by clicking here. There will also be the opportunity to donate cash, cheque, or donations of non-perishable food items to the Ottawa Food Bank booth at the Great Glebe Garage Sale, which will be in front of McKeen Metro.

As the event draws near, we wanted to give you a friendly heads up that parking spaces will be very limited in the area. We kindly suggest considering alternative modes of transportation to make your way to the Glebe, such as hopping on your bike or taking public transit! OC Transpo Routes 6 and 7 can whisk you straight to the Glebe.

  • You can check out some scenic bike paths the City has to offer by visiting HERE
  • To view the bus Route 6 click HERE , and for the bus Route 7 click HERE

As for access to washrooms, public toilets will be available at various locations. You can find AODA porta-potties at the St. Matthew's Church parking lot (217 First Avenue), and a standard porta-potty at Glebe Collegiate Institute (212 Glebe Avenue). Fourth Avenue Baptist Church has kindly made their toilets available to the public as well.

In this year's edition of the event we are excited to announce that over 28 local businesses will be participating in the Sidewalk Sale,  including some fan favourites such as Magpie, Cantina Gia, Bloomfields, Compact Music, JD Adam, Joe Mamma Cycles,  Top of the World,  and many more! So, come on down to the Glebe and check-out all the amazing sales its residents and businesses alike have to offer!
