A Stunning Location

The Glebe is arguably the most iconic neighbourhood and mainstreet style shopping area in the City of Ottawa. Located in the heart of the nation's capital, it is bordered by Highway 417 to the north, the Bank Street Bridge to the South and surrounded by the historic Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the largest skating rink anywhere. The neighbourhood is home to major attractions and landmarks, including Lansdowne Park, TD Place, the Aberdeen Pavilion, beautiful green spaces and lush parks throughout. All within walking distance from Parliament Hill and minutes away from all the major hotels. The Glebe offers more than 200 merchants along Bank Street and at Lansdowne. The neighbourhood is a place of history, character and charm, so it's no surprise that it is a top-of-mind destination for shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure.

Easy & Accessible

The Glebe’s central location makes the neighbourhood easily accessible from the north, south, east and west, with numerous transportation options available, including public transportation, scenic cycling and a pedestrian-friendly traditional mainstreet. The Glebe also offers a range of parking options throughout the neighbourhood, including a parking garage on Third Avenue that offers 146-spaces for short and long-term needs.

Fun Promotions & Programs

Glebe Spree is one of our most successful traffic generators and an annual Glebe tradition. In 2017, we collected the highest ever number of ballots - over 32,000! Participating businesses validate customer passports with each purchase and accept completed ballots on their premises. The contest has become a popular part of the holiday shopping experience and continues to grow and expand year after year.

Major Attractions

Another major value proposition for the Glebe are events and festivals. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people come to the area to take in games, shows, concerts, events, exhibits, festivals and so much more - the list goes on and on. In the past three years, TD Place has welcomed FIFA Women’s World Cup Soccer, the National Figure Skating Championships, the 105th Grey Cup Festival and the NHL 100 Classic outdoor game, to name a few.

Effective Marketing

The Glebe is strategically marketed to key audiences throughout the year. Driven by research, a Get-it-in-the-Glebe campaign ran most recently from October 2016 to March 2017. Online placement outperformed industry standards and resulted in more than 13 million impressions, directing thousands to the local website and merchant promotions.
