Wassail, Wassail ! with Seventeen Voyces

Seventeen Voyce, Ottawa’s premier chamber choir invites you to join them on Friday December 6 at 7:30 at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in the Glebe or Sunday December 8 at 4 o’clock at St. Bartholomew Church in New Edinburgh for Wassail, Wassail !
(tickets on line at www.seventeenvoyces.ca)
Whether you think of ‘wassail’ as a mulled cider of Anglo-Saxon time or a greeting of good health, Seventeen Voyces wants you to imagine singing carols ‘door to door’ and wishing all good health. The main work on the program will be A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, written for choir or harp, and Lucile Hildesheim will join Seventeen Voyces on harp. Also, Britten’s work Hymn for a Virgin, a stunning contemplative work for choir and quartet. Also back by popular demand, In Dulci jubilo by local composer Christine Donkin also featuring Ms. Hildesheim on harp. In addition to traditional and contemporary arrangements by Ralph Vaughn Williams and William Mathias of well known carols there will also be an arrangement by our very own organist and composer Andrew Ager which begins and ends the Christmas medley.
What a way to launch the festive season.
