Crackup Snowmania Challenge
Alterna Savings Crackup comedy festival has returned with it’s yearly Guinness World Record snowman building event – the Crackup Snowmania Challenge!
On Saturday, February 11th, friends, families and colleagues will be gathering at TD Place to try and build more than 3000 snowmen in order to break the Guinness World Record for the most snowmen built in an hour.
The Crackup Snowmania Challenge is a fun, family event that brings people together to raise awareness and funds in support of mental health. In Ottawa, one in five people will experience mental illness at some point in their life, with youth being one of the most at-risk groups to experience mental health problems.
To get involved, you can register as a team or as an individual. Then all you need to do is fund-raise for the charity of your choice and build as many snowmen as you possibly can.
Be sure to bring the eyes, arms, and noses for your snowpeople. You can get jazzy too, with scarves and other winter accessories; All toques, scarves, mitts and other winter wear left behind after the event will be donated to the Salvation Army. Remember that snowmen have to be at least three feet tall in order to qualify!
Gates open at 11 a.m. and the building starts at noon sharp. The action takes place on the field and you enter the field through the east gate and head to the staging areas.
The Crackup Snowmania Challenge is part of Alterna Savings Crackup comedy festival that runs from February 7 to 18, that aims to raise awareness of the need for improved access to mental health services in Canada’s Capital Region.
