Dave Welsh is a Canadian lawyer and the Country Director for the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labour – Congress of Industrial Organizations) Solidarity Center in Indonesia and Malaysia. He was previously posted as the AFL Country Director in Cambodia from 2010-2015 and prior to that in Bangladesh from 2006-2010. Dave will discuss his advocacy work with international trade unions with an emphasis on prevailing challenges in the garment sector, overseas practices of Canadian brands and legal opportunities to hold Canadian companies more accountable for worker rights in their supply chain.

Dave has been working on international labor rights issues for over 12 years. His efforts have been covered in a variety of international publications including the New York Times , Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the Guardian and the Globe and Mail , among others

The discussion will be followed by a Q and A.
