Weekend What’s Up: Tamal Festival, 67’s hockey and live jazz in the Glebe
It’s Friday and that means we’ve got another weekend ahead in the Glebe.
The sun is shining, and the forecast looks like we won’t be freezing out butts off this weekend. It’s time to break out of those hibernation shells and start having some outdoor fun.
This weekend boasts everything for the food lover, the music buff and the sports fan.
The weekend kicks off with the Tamal Festival Saturday at the horticulture – a celebration of the popular, ubiquitous tamales of Latin America. Taste a suite of tamales from various Latin countries, with various fillings. The festival will feature live music, food and a whole lot of tamales. All day Saturday. Click here for details.
Sunday is a busy one, kicking things off with the Ottawa Farmers’ Market inside the Aberdeen Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Browse local produce and artisan goods this and every Sunday. Click here for more information.
Wanna check out the hottest team in the Ontario Hockey League and watch future stars of the NHL battle it out on the ice? The Ottawa 67’s hit the ice March 3 vs Mississauga at the Arena at TD Place. The 67’s remain in first overall and have already clinched a playoff spot. Go 67’s Go! Puck drop is at 2 p.m.
After the game, head to Industria Pizzeria and Bar for some slices and some free live jazz. The bar boasts a rotating roster of local jazz musicians to serenade you into the evening. The Sunday jazz nights run from 4-7 p.m. Click here for more information.
Sticking with the jazz theme, the Arrow and Loon returns Sunday with its monthly Vocal Jazz Series, featuring the Glebop Jazz Trio and a rotating cast of local jazz vocalists. The jazz nights are free and run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Click here for more information.
