Weekend What’s Up: Santa to touch down at final Christmas Market in the Glebe
Santa Claus is coming to the Glebe this weekend – and it’ll be your last chance to tell him about all those last-minute gifts you’d like to see under the tree on Christmas Day.
It’s the final weekend of the 2018 Ottawa Christmas Market at Lansdowne where attendees can tour the site by horse-drawn wagon, browse unique hand crafted glass ornaments in the retailer cabins and visit with the big man before he takes to the sky to deliver toys.
Santa’s sleigh will touch down around 2 p.m. on Saturday where he will roam around the site and take selfies with families until 4 p.m. Warm yourself by the wood-burning fire while you gobble up sweet treats from Levy’s Sweet Shop.
Warm up inside the Aberdeen Pavilion and snag some last-minute Christmas gifts from the Ottawa Farmers’ Christmas Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. You’ll be able to browse produce, artisan gifts and vintage goods all day long. Jump on a wagon and tour Lansdowne by horse on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This weekend is your last chance to catch a glimpse of the Ottawa Christmas Market before the full market – boasting more than 20 retailer cabins, outdoor fire pits, beer gardens and mulled wine stations – takes over Lansdowne for Christmas in 2019. Click here for more information.
On Christmas Eve, head over to the St. Matthew’s Church and take in their annual Children’s Pageant and Sung Eucharist at 5 p.m. St. Matthew’s youth and children will present the Nativity Play, directed by Erin MacDonald. The cast includes actors and dancers from the St. Matthew’s youth group and Sunday School classes. Click here for more information.
And don’t forget that Glebe Spree is on in the Glebe, and that means you’ll have a chance at winning a $10,000 Glebe shopping spree in the New Year. Good luck to all!
