If you’re a fan of beer, championship hockey, and soccer moms, then you won’t have to leave the Glebe for the entire weekend.

Your weekend officially begins at 3 p.m. Friday when the Ottawa Beer Fest begins pouring copious amounts of ale for its two-day beer celebration in the Aberdeen Pavilion May 10-11. Sample a number of Ontario craft beers while challenging your buddies to a round of Beer Pong. The festival will also feature Yoga on Tap, Beer U and a Craft Beer Run. The fest runs 3 p.m. to midnight on May 10 and 11 a.m. to midnight May 11. Click here for your tickets.

After notching two wins in the opening games of the OHL Championship, the Ottawa 67’s faltered in Guelph, losing back-to-back games Monday and Wednesday, allowing the Storm to draw even in the series. Game 5 is back at home Friday night at TD Place, and the already sold-out crowd promises to deliver the much-need boost for the barber boys. A win for the 67’s will give them an opportunity to win the Championship in Guelph Sunday afternoon. Game 7, if necessary, comes back to TD Place Monday night. Tickets for Friday’s game 5 are completely sold out.   Click here for more info.

On Saturday, spend a day at the theatre with Counterfeit! a new play by the Ottawa Baroque Consort, starring multi-award winning actor and playwright Pierre Brault. Follow the true story of William Chaloner, the charismatic counterfeiter, whose 17th century illegal coins surpassed the quality of those at the Royal Canadian Mint. Who can stop him? Find out Saturday night at the Glebe St. James United Church. Tickets are $35 with the curtain call at 7:30 p.m. Click here for details.

Have you got a house full of runners? You may already be signed up for the Sporting Life 10K, set to take over the neighbourhood on Sunday. The fundraiser will raise cash to send kids affected by childhood cancer to attend OOCH Camp this summer. The run kicks off at 8 a.m. May 12. Click here to register.

Sunday is all about soccer moms! Looking for the perfect way to spend Mother’s Day in the Glebe? Take her to a soccer game…for free! The Ottawa Fury FC are set to take on North Carolina for a Mother’s Day theme game at TD Place. And best of all, moms get in for free. That’s right, momma won’t have to pay to take in some hot soccer action. Plus, you can score her some killer Fury garb, as all female Fury merch is 25 per cent off.  Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Click here for tickets. If you’re looking for other ways to treat your mom this Mother’s Day, read our Mother’s Day blog here.

The Ottawa Farmers’ Market is now outside! The market moved from inside the Aberdeen Pavilion to the Aberdeen Square last weekend, and with the sun set to warm us back up to 17C this weekend, you’ll want to stop off at the Farmers’ Market.  While most produce isn’t quite in season just yet, you can still get your hands on some fresh asparagus, mushrooms and a whole pile of maple syrup to drizzle all over your life. The market runs this and every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Click here for more information.
