Weekend What’s Up: Mompreneurs, 67’s game and Farmers’ Market in the Glebe
If hockey, food and Christmas shopping get you excited, then you’ll likely want to spend the entire weekend in the Glebe.
The Ottawa 67’s began their weekend early with a big 6-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves during the team’s annual School Day Game Thursday morning. The win puts the 67’s in first overall in the OHL. But don’t worry if you missed the morning game because the Barber Poles head back to TD Place Saturday afternoon to take on the Mississauga Steelheads. Puck drop is at 3:30 p.m.
On Sunday, take in two different markets just steps away from each other. Beginning at 9 a.m. you can start stocking up on produce, artisanal gifts and handmade goods at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market inside the Aberdeen Pavilion. Browse scores of local merchants and their decadent wares just in time for the holidays. The market runs every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kicking off just an hour-and-a-half later at the Horticulture Building where Baby Mama Hustle is putting on their annual Christmas Market. Expect to get all your Christmas shopping done in one outing, as there will be 40-plus local vendors, everything from knitted hats and crafts to wine, cheese and everything else a mom would want. The event is free and also boasts live entertainment for the kids. The market runs from 10:30 to 3 p.m. Click here for more details.
And while it’s not happening this weekend, you should mark off you calendars for the launch of the Ottawa Christmas Market next Friday, November 29. Attendees will be dazzled when organizers light the 60-foot Christmas tree in front of the Aberdeen Pavilion. Stroll through the first-ever Ottawa Christmas Market at the Casino Lac Leamy Square and browse items from scores of local vendors. The market will also boast a beer garden, shopping and outdoor stage performances all under a stunning canopy of Christmas lights that will truly invoke the spirit of Christmas. And, oh yeah, an artist you may know will be playing a special performance during the launch of the market. Her name is Chantal Kreviazuk. The Christmas market launch kicks off at 5 p.m. Nov. 29.
