Weekend What’s Up: Fury Soccer, Live Jazz and Salsa Under the Stars
Soccer fans, food lovers, jazz cats and salsa dancers won’t need to travel very far to have fun this weekend. There’s something for everyone in the family – from the Farmers’ Market to dancing under the stars – all in the Glebe this weekend.
It all kicks off Saturday night when the Ottawa Fury FC look to make it three-in-a-row against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The Fury, who currently sit in eighth place in the USL’s Western Conference, are hot as of late, winning back-to-back games by a combined score of 5-2. The Fury have only lost two game in their last 10 regular season outings. They’ll look to continue their dominance this weekend. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Click here for tickets.
You may start seeing cabbage, brussel sprouts and cranberries pop up at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market over the next few weeks, along with peaches, corn and bok choi. The Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne boasts everything from fresh produce and grains to artisan goods, vintage finds and hot food. Jazz cats will find themselves gravitating towards Lansdowne Park Sunday afternoon, as Industria Pizzeria & Bar hosts free live jazz every Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Groove to a rotating roster of local jazz players while sipping wine, beer or snacking on some bites. Once you’ve had your fill of jazz, head over to the Aberdeen Square for Dancing Under the Stars. The free Salsa Social runs from 7-10 p.m. and is open for everyone of all levels. Come and cut up a rug while learning some new moves on the dancefloor. Click here for details.
