"“He shoots, he scores,” “Touchdown!” and, “Gooooooal” should be the catchphrases this weekend in the Glebe.

All three Glebe sports teams hit the field, pitch and ice for a sports weekend for the ages. Plus, there’s a boat load of other events happening over the next few days that will get you and your family off the couch and into the sun.

The weekend gets off to a roaring start Thursday night as hundreds of motorcycles will roll through the Glebe for TheMotoSocialOTTAWA – a friendly motorbike rally along Bank Street. The monthly rally moves around the city from May to September with a different independent business hosting the party. This week, it’s new skate shop Top of the World hosting the event. All are welcome to attend, whether your ride a motorcycle or not. So come down, connect with your community and check out a pile of awesome two-wheeled beauties. The rally runs from 7-9 p.m. Click here for more details.

On Friday night, you’ll want to sharpen up your digging skills, as 613Flea, the Glebe’s monthly flea market is hosting a night market inside the Aberdeen Pavilion. Browse ancient treasures, vintage goods, retro video games, clothing and pretty much anything else you can imagine. The Night Market runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Click here for details. The regular 613Flea returns Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for details.

Also Friday night, the Ottawa 67’s open up their 2019-20 season in Guelph where they take on their rivals the Storm who dashed their Memorial Cup hopes during last year’s OHL final. But just because the 67’s are on the road doesn’t mean you can’t follow the action. Crust and Crate at Lansdowne is hosting an official Season Opener Viewing Party that will feature trivia and prize giveaways. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. so get there early to get a good seat. Interested in sustainable products and innovations? Looking to connect with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to a 100 per cent clean, sustainable energy system? Learn about the sector’s advancements while browsing individual, community and commercial sustainable energy products. The event is free to attend. Click here for details.

While the odds aren’t great, the Ottawa REDBLACKS still have a chance to push for a playoff spot. The team has struggled since starting the season 2-0, losing their last five games and nine of their last 10. With another date against the league’s worst BC Lions (2-10), the time is now to start winning. The REDBLACKS currently sit in third place in the East division, six points behind Montreal for what could be the final playoff spot. If the REDBLACKS run the table, they would end up at .500 with a 9-9 record and could squeak in, based on other team’s performances down the stretch. What the REDBLACKS really need is a raucous crowd behind them at TD Place this Saturday as they take on the Lions. Come out and support the boys, through thick and thin and help them right the sinking ship. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Click here for tickets.

With temperatures expected to push towards 30C this Sunday, why not spend the day outside? The Ottawa Farmers’ Market takes over the Aberdeen Square from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In season this week are pears, brussels sprouts, cabbage and cranberries. Click here to start shopping for the freshest produce around.

Staying with the outdoor theme, grab a seat at the beautiful TD Place and watch the beautiful game under a beautiful sky. The Ottawa Fury FC take on Hartford for a 2 p.m. afternoon game in the Glebe. After going on a hot streak in August, the team has struggled lately, losing their last five. The Fury are still in control of the final Eastern playoff spot, but they’ll need to turn things around if they want to extend their season. Cheer on the Fury by grabbing tickets here.

Another summer-extending weekend in the Glebe. See you in the best little neighbourhood around!
