Weekend What’s Up: 67’s Teddy Bear Toss, Xmas Market and GNAG Youth Dance in the Glebe
Get your teddy bears ready because the Ottawa 67’s are going to make it rain stuffed animals this weekend at their annual Teddy Bear Toss game Saturday afternoon.
There’s a flurry of winter activities happening throughout the Glebe this weekend – everything from a youth Dance at GNAG and horse and wagon rides at Lansdowne’s Christmas Market to the grand opening of The Ten Spot nail spa in the Glebe.
Your weekend starts Friday night at Studio Sixty Six’s Holiday Party and Fundraiser. Guests are invited to browse new fine Canadian art while sipping complimentary wine, beer and tea at the Bank Street gallery. Ten per cent of all sales Friday will be donated to Eldercare Foundation Ottawa, a local charity designed to enhance the lives of Ottawa’s growing seniors’ population. The Ottawa 67’s are also in action Friday night when the Flint Firebirds show up to test the hottest team in the OHL. The 67’s sit atop of the standings with an impressive 24-4-3 record, seven points ahead of the second-place London Knights. Click here for tickets to Friday’s game.
Are the kids looking to cut up a rug this weekend? Get them to strap on their dancing shoes for the GNAG Youth Dance Friday night at the Glebe Community Centre. The Winter Wonderland themed dance is for students in Grades 5-8 and features games, prizes and youthful shenanigans all night long. Tickets are $15, get yours here.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Ottawa Farmers’ Christmas Market will be offering free horse and wagon rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with vendors setting up inside the Aberdeen Pavilion. Grab everything you need and more for a perfect holiday season. Click here for more info.
The Ottawa Christmas Market also continues Saturday and Sunday complete with retailer cabins, a cozy wood-burning stove and hot chocolate. This weekend’s vendors include Alicja Confections and Sunset Grill, who will be offering Peameal Bacon Buns to hungry passersby. Saturday afternoon is when Teddy Bears will fall from the sky. It’s the annual Ottawa 67’s Teddy Bear Toss Game Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Owen Sound Attack show up for a mid-season tilt. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently-used teddy bear to throw on the ice after the 67’s score a goal. The teddy bears will be donated to less fortunate children over the holidays. Saturday is also the perfect opportunity to welcome the Glebe’s newest nail spa, The Ten Spot, to the neighbourhood during their grand opening celebration Saturday afternoon.
