Weekend What’s Up: 67’s home opener, REDBLACKS game, Bike Ball and CNIB Hero Night
Calling all sports fans, cycling enthusiasts and LARPers, this weekend is for you in the Glebe.
Whether you’re a REDBLACKS fan, a 67’s supporter or a live action role playing genius, you’ll find plenty to do in your own back yard this weekend.
It all kicks off Friday night at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind Foundation hosts it’s annual Hero Night FUN-raiser. Don your best hero costume and take part in fun games, face painting and adult and youth live action role playing. The fun kicks off at 7: p.m. at the Aberdeen Square. Click here for details.
Celebrate EnviroCentre’s 20th anniversary Friday night at the Bicycle Ball, a fancy party, “low-carbon chic” style. Guests arrive by low-to-no carbon means, including by transit, bike, foot or even by canoe. The event will feature snacks and drinks and low-carbon pride. The event runs from 6:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. inside the Horticulture Building. Click here for details.
A new clothing shop is opening in the Glebe and they’re throwing a party all day Saturday at 889 Bank Street. Bad Dog Co. is a consignment clothing store and they’re set to open door right beside Irene’s Pub. Show up with a bag of clothes and they’ll buy them, or trade them for some new threads. The party kicks off at 11 a.m. and runs all day. Click here for details.
The Ottawa REDBLACKS are back at TD Place this Saturday with an afternoon tilt against the Edmonton Eskimos. The REDBLACKS have struggled recently, but they’ll need your support to get back into the win column. Saturday’s game kicks off at 4 p.m. Click here for tickets.
Hockey is back in the Glebe! The Ottawa 67’s return to TD Place Sunday afternoon for their home opener. It was an emotional end of the season last year, after the 67’s fell just two wins shy of winning the OHL championship, so you know they’ll be out for revenge. Sunday’s home opener is at 2 p.m. vs. the Peterborough Petes. Click here to read our 67’s season preview.
Prior to the game Sunday, you can swing by the Ottawa Farmers’ Market, which runs every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Aberdeen Square. Pick up fresh produce, some artisanal gifts or some hot food before the game. Click here for details.
Another great Glebe weekend. See you down here!
