June 15, 2022 | by glebeadmin

They’re back, RNation! Summer is almost here and so is the Ottawa REDBLACKS home opener. On the evening of Friday, June 17 the REDBLACKS will take on the defending Grey Cup Champs, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at TD Place. We lost a heartbreaker to the Bombers last week, so expect the rematch to be epic. Tickets start at $25; click here to get yours and get in the gate for kickoff..

Pre-Game Fun in the Glebe

But why wait until kick-off? There are hours of fun to be had on Game Day throughout the Glebe, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Lansdowne will be hosting a face painter and a balloon artist to keep the kids (and adults) entertained right up until kick-off. The Scotiabank parking lot at 828 Bank Street will also play host to a face painter as well as Sterling, an Ottawa based rock band. Clocktower Brew Pub, 575 Bank Street, will feature Zach Martin Music, a local Ottawa singer-songwriter. There will be stilt walkers and super fans strolling around Lansdowne and Bank Street to further animate the area on Game Day.

The Glebe is home to more than 50 bars and restaurants where you can grab a pre-game bite! So, make that reso now, or pop in a bit early on game day to grab your seat. We’ve got patios and cool indoor seating galore, so you can pick your spot to charge up for some cheering.

At the stadium

Free Thunder Sticks

What’s better than free? Probably nothing. The first 18,000 fans at the game will receive free thunder sticks to use loud and proud during the game. Be sure to arrive early to get your hands on these noise makers!

Live Music

Pair your football and $5 beer to some live music. Come down to Gate 1 before the game and during halftime to take in some tunes performed by the Young Petty Stones! Live music, beer, AND football…you’ve hit the trifecta.

You Could Win $100,000!

No, that isn’t a typo – you really could win $100,000. In partnership with the OSEG Foundation, the REDBLACKS home opener features a 50/50 draw, with the guaranteed minimum prize of $100,000.

Fans within Ontario can buy tickets at, but they’ll also be available in The Stadium during the game. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the 50/50 sellers in the bright orange vests. Tickets will be sold right up until the end of the fourth quarter.

All proceeds will go towards the OSEG Foundation, helping to provide opportunities for kids in our community to play, learn, and develop through sports.

Come out and enjoy one of the most exciting summer nights in the Glebe, and in Ottawa! LET’S GO REDBLACKS!
