Sportin Life 10K, Fury game, Peanuts movie all in the Glebe this weekend
There aren’t many better ways to spend Mother’s Day than outside, in the sun, getting exercise. You’ll have the chance to do just that this Sunday at the Sporting Life 10K run at Lansdowne Park this Mother’s Day. Both runners and walkers are welcome to take part in the event that will take participants on a looped route along the Colonel By Drive and then back to Lansdowne. Stick around for a post-run party at Lansdowne Park, or head for a Mother’s Day Brunch at one of the amazing restaurants in the Glebe. The run starts at 8 a.m. with staggered starts every three minutes. Click here for more information. If you’d rather watch other people run, Saturday is your day in the Glebe. The Ottawa Fury will look to build off last week’s home win this Saturday against Minnesota FC, but it will be a battle, as Minnesota sits in second place in the NASL league. Ottawa sit near the bottom at ninth place, with just one win, one draw and three tough losses.
Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at TD Place. Click here for tickets. Looking to pick up some new, local art for you collection? Head down to the Glebe Community Centre for all of May to check out the GNAG Art Show and Sale. The event features collection from emerging local artists in the Glebe. The exhibit runs until May 31. Click here for more information. If you’re more of a movie buff, GNAG is also screening Peanuts the movie at 6:30 p.m. at the Glebe Community Centre. Join Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy as they get into all sorts of shenanigans in this animated family film. The film is free for everyone. There is also a homemade enchilada dinner offered for $7 at 6 p.m. Click here for more information. There’s lots to do in the Glebe this weekend and it all starts tonight.
