Snowflakes in the Glebe – $4000 and 4000 lbs of Food!

March 28, 2012 | by glebeadmin

March 28 (OTTAWA, ON) During Winterlude, The Glebe BIA teamed up with the Ottawa Food Bank for the Snowflakes in the Glebe campaign. From February 3rd to February 20th, businesses offered Glebe Snowflakes for a small donation, a loonie or twoonie, to help out the Ottawa Food Bank. The inaugural year was a resounding success. The Glebe raised $4000, to go toward purchasing the perishable goods that cannot be stored by the Food Bank, and to support Ottawa’s needy families.

In addition, McKeen Metro (774-776 Bank Street) held a food drive from February 11th to February 12th. Their hard work and the generosity of the community generated 4000 lbs of food for the Food Bank. Christine Leadman, Executive Director of the Glebe BIA, presented cheques to Peter Tilly (Executive Director), and Sarah Burns (Events Co-ordinator) for the Ottawa Food Bank yesterday at McKeen Metro.  Jim McKeen was awarded a very special certificate for his efforts, on behalf of his staff at Metro.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the campaign!
