You may be brushing up on your bargaining skills for this Saturday’s Great Glebe Garage and Sidewalk Sale, but you should be ready for more than just shopping, as the Glebe is bursting with activity Friday through Sunday for one of the biggest weekends of the year.

It all starts Friday night when Ottawa Fury FC takes on Bethlehem Steel FC at 7 p.m. at TD Place. The Fury are looking to move out of the near basement of the Eastern Conference, but they’ll be in tough against the Steel, who sit in fifth place with a 4-4-2 record. Click here for tickets to Friday’s match.

Saturday starts out with a huge bang with the annual Great Glebe Garage & Sidewalk Sale, where thousands are set to descend on one of North America’s largest garage sales. Scores of Glebe merchants will be out selling goods on the sidewalk, while Ecology Ottawa will be throwing down quite the party at the Boston Pizza parking lot, complete with DJs, a water-filling station and an evergreen tree giveaway. Nobody puts Baby in the corner. That’s right, Dirty Dancing will be cutting up a rug in the Glebe Saturday night, as the classic story will be brought to life on stage for a live performance at TD Place. The show has been met with rave reviews around the globe and now the timeless love story will come to life in the Glebe. Tickets range between $39.50 and $89.50. Click here to scoop yours now.

Start your Sunday off right with an intense workout with Goodlife Fitness. Join the team for a free workout every Sunday at 8 a.m. in the stands of TD Place. You’ll be running stairs, doing push ups and sit ups and everything else that will make you feel the burn. Get your sweat on here.

After your workout, go load up on local produce and artisan goods at the Ottawa Farmer’s Market on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Herbs, maple syrup and mushrooms are in season. The market takes over the Aberdeen outdoor court every Sunday throughout the summer and fall. Click here for more information.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Rabid football fans who can’t wait for the start of CFL season can get their fix in this Sunday at the REDBLACKS fan fest. RNation is invited for a behind-the-scenes look at the team in action, as the squad’s offence and defense will square off in a scrimmage from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Fan Fest gets underway at noon at TD Place and will allow fans to take part in a variety of football drills and meet their favourite players on the field. The fest will also feature a Family Fun Zone with interactive games and activities. Admission is free. Click here for more details.

Here’s to another great weekend in the Glebe. We’ll see you here!
