Don’t just celebrate Canada this weekend, celebrate the world.

After a successful 2017, Ottawa Welcomes the World is returning to the Glebe July 1-3 for a cultural trip around the globe with participating nations such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Uruguay, Peru and Egypt, just to name a few.

You taste buds will be treated to flavours from around the world, while your mind will be entertained with cultural performances throughout the weekend – music and dance that will take over the World Stage at the Horticulture Building all weekend.

The cultural festival boasts an International Coffee Bar, Cultural Cuisine on the Patio, multiple performances throughout the weekend and so much more. The party kicks off 10 a.m. July 1 and runs until 8 p.m. each day. Click here to plan your cultural weekend in the Glebe.

But the cultural festival isn’t the only thing happening in the Glebe for Canada Day Weekend, as the neighbourhood is packed with a number of events from yoga to international basketball at TD Place.

The weekend kicks off early Thursday evening with Full Moon Yoga on the Great Lawn at TD Place. Join Rama Lotus Yoga for a healthy stretch session at dusk. The yoga session is open to all levels and is free for everyone. Full Moon Yoga runs from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Click here for more information.

Sunday will be your busy day in the Glebe with the Ottawa Welcomes the World event, along with The Mayor’s Canada Day Breakfast for Seniors inside the Aberdeen Pavilion. Seniors in the Glebe can enjoy a breakfast alongside Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. The breakfast runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Click here for more information.

Make your way out to the Ottawa Farmers’ Market on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. where you can get all your local produce, goods and artisan crafts. Over the next few Sundays, you’ll start to see apples, apricots, broccoli, cherries and cauliflower start to sprout at the market. Click here to see what’s in season this week.

If you’re a basketball fan, then you’ll be happy this year’s Canada Day holiday falls on Monday, as the FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifier hits TD Place July 2.
