NYE in the Glebe with the Scottish Society
How will you spend the final day of 2015?
Well, in the Glebe, of course.
For those of you looking for a family-friendly New Year’s Eve party, you don’t have to travel far. Just a skip, hop and a jump to Lansdowne is all you need to do to ring in the New Year with the Scottish Society of Ottawa.
The society is bringing its popular Hogmanay party to the Glebe this year – and with it comes a full day of music, food, kid’s games and a fireworks show and countdown at midnight to ring in the New Year. And it’s all free.
If the kids won’t make it to midnight, don’t fret. The Great Scot! Kids’ Zone will do an early countdown at 7 p.m. for the young one, so you can drop them off at the sitters and head back to the party.
There are several live bands playing traditional Scottish tunes all day long featuring the Glengarry Pipe Band and The American Rogues, among others.
Like scotch? Take part in the Scotch Whiskey tasting event inside the historic Aberdeen Pavilion or lace up your skates and carve out a figure eight at the new Lansdowne skating rink.
The kids will be busy all day with a magic show, light shows, storytelling and face painting throughout the day.
But after you drop the kids off, come back to the party. There will be live music right up to the countdown at midnight, where there will be champagne and lots of celebratory kisses.
Don’t stay at home this year, come to the Glebe and ring in the New Year right in your back yard.
Happy New Year, Glebeites.
