New Art Fest, Volleyball and Porsche show in the Glebe this weekend
If you’re a fan of anything in general, you’ll want to stick around home this weekend, as the Glebe boasts everything from a Lobster Kitchen Party and a national volleyball tournament to art shows in the park and a Porsche showcase that could potentially trigger your mid-life crisis.
It’s another packed weekend in the Glebe, and it all starts Thursday night with GNAG’s Lobster Kitchen Party at the Glebe Community centre. Seafood fans will be in heaven with lobster, lobster poutine and strawberry shortcake for dessert. 100% of proceeds go to GNAG’s Integration Support Program for kids with special needs. Volleyball will take over TD Place all weekend with the Volleyball Nations League – the Canadian stop that features four men’s national teams including Team Australia, Team Germany, Team USA and Team Canada. Close to 200 visual artists will show off their stunning pieces in Central Park this weekend at The New Art Festival, Ottawa’s longest-running juried outdoor exhibition of original, one-of-a-kind art and fine craft. Celebrate local art, and the people who create it this weekend in a relaxed park environment. The festival boasts award ceremonies, local food vendors and live music. Find out Saturday night at the Glebe Collegiate Institute where The Movement Co. is hosting the first annual Glebe Mile running race. All levels are welcome to take part in this run for fun. Stay until the final run and watch the elites battle it out in the Elimination Mile, where the last runner gets eliminated every lap.
