Music stars face off against NHLers at JUNO Cup in the Glebe
Hockey and music: It doesn’t get much better than that in Canada.
And who doesn’t wanna watch Sam Roberts give Paul Coffey a dirty elbow?
You never know what will go down at the JUNO Cup this Friday when music celebrities face off against former NHLers in an all-out battle for bragging rights.
The celebrity Rock vs. Jock hockey game will see the likes of Ottawa Senators living legend Daniel Alfredsson, former Leaf Gary Roberts and the fabled Paul Coffee line up against Canadian music stars Amanda Rheaume, Jim Cuddy and Kathleen Edwards, among others.
“We’re very proud to be a part of the JUNO Cup this year and excited to cheer on Canadian musical greats and NHL legends as they join forces to support MusiCounts,” said Tyrrell Schmidt, Vice President, Marketing, TD Bank Group in a statement. “The greatest reward is seeing how our communities benefit from the gift of music that MusiCounts helps to provide.”
Behind the bench for the Jocks is Ottawa REDBLACKS former quarterback Henry Burris, while Brian “Killer” Kilrea will man the bench for the Rockers.
It will be interesting to watch the matchups that the two coaches will put on the ice. Kathleen Edwards could be covering Jim Cuddy all night long; Ottawa’s Matt Sobb of MonkeyJunk may just drop the mitts with tough guy Gary Roberts; will the Stumbellas’ Dallas Smith take Alfredsson out at the knees? Word on the street is that Beard Guy from Walk off the Earth has some serious dangles. He knows exactly where mamma keeps the peanut butter. Prepare for battle!
The puck drops at TD Place at 7:30 p.m. on March 31. Tickets are $20. Proceeds from JUNO Cup will benefit MusiCounts.
