Glebe-Spree Winner Kicks Off 2014 With $10,000 Grand Prize
The Glebe BIA announced the winner of its popular Glebe-Spree contest today – Sylvie Reichert.
The Glebe-Spree was developed in 2011 to encourage shopping after the City of Ottawa’s extensive Bank Street Reconstruction project. The campaign offered shoppers a chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree to be used at any participating business located in the Glebe.
“It feels surreal, the last time I won anything was when I was 11 or 12 years old. It’s just amazing and exciting and it’s given my family an extra boost of positivity.” Sylvie said of winning the contest.
Sylvie is an avid Glebe shopper. She “was really conscious to shop in the Glebe for Christmas this season,” adding that, “everything is here, the food is fresh and the people are really friendly.” Her winning ballot was entered at local grocery store, McKeen Metro Glebe.
Her family is getting in on the excitement of winning $10,000 as well. “My 8-year-old daughter is already planning to go to Mrs. Tiggy Winkles and get a cupcake pillow she’s been wanting. She thought she’d never be able to save up enough money with her allowance!”
The Glebe BIA would like to thank everyone who entered and all the businesses for their support of the contest including Scotiabank who also helped fund this year’s prize. The campaign has enjoyed considerable popularity over the past three years.
