Glebe Spree Gift Guide: Girls’ Night Out in the Glebe
So, you and the girls are getting ready for a rare girls’ night out. You want to do it up right, with food, shopping, maybe a show and some holiday cocktails. Where do you go?
The Glebe of course. We’ve got it all – some of the most unique shops in all of Ottawa, some of the city’s best restaurants, a movie theater, live music venues, bars and possibly to most amount of chocolate shops in a one-kilometer radius in the city.
As part of our seven-week series on Glebe Spree gift ideas, here’s a guide to going out in the Glebe. Pack your night with some of these adventures and you’ll be designated as the official party planner for your crew for years to come.
Start with a drink
If you and your lady clan are going to last shopping all day, you’ll need some liquid courage to get the blood flowing. Join up for drinks at one of our many restaurants and pubs. Enjoy a classy, relaxed atmosphere with some of the best wines in the city at the 107 Fourth Avenue Wine Bar. They carry close to 25 wines by glass or bottle and serve snacks and full meals.
If you’re looking for more of a pub feel, hit up the Arrow and Loon in the Fifth Avenue Court. It’s the perfect spot for drinks with friends, where you can laugh, sing, dance and holler amongst fellow barflies.
Looking for some craftier drinks? Head to the Craft Beer Market at Lansdowne and enjoy Ontario’s largest selections of craft beers, with over 100 beers for you to choose from. Appys and meals are available too. The Clocktower Brew Pub in the Glebe is Ottawa flag ship brew pub and offers seasonal monthly brews and a private bar and party room if you want to take over the place. Farmteam Cookhouse & Bar is another casual spot, perfect for drinks before heading out to paint the Glebe red. Feel at one with nature in their rustic setting that evokes rich dark woods and rustic curiosities.
And if you’re really looking to mingle with locals, Irene’s Pub is the place to be. A night at Irene’s is what spending the evening at Cheers would be like. Craft beer and whiskies are the local flavour and there are always live tunes blasting out of the bar. The only problem with Irene’s is that it’s so good, you may end up staying all night.
Another perfect vibey spot is Local, where everyone’s your pal and you can catch the game or marvel at extreme sports on the big screen. Great prices for drinks and one of the meanest, spiciest casers in the Glebe. Don’t forget Pints and Quarts, right smack in the heart of the Glebe, serving all your pub favourites and more. There is always a good vibe at Pints and Quarts, especially if you down a pint and a quart.
