The Glebe BIA is thrilled to announce the winner of this year’s Glebe Spree Early Bird Prize, Tony McCormack.

McCormack has won a High Performance City Hybrid Bicycle courtesy of Kunstadt Sports in the Glebe.

“I can’t remember the last time I won anything,” said a jovial McCormack, a longtime Glebe shopper.  “The Glebe has all the great coffee shops, it’s got great food markets, and I bought my shoes here. There is a great selection of products.”

McCormack said he filled out three complete Glebe Spree ballots prior to the November 30 Early Bird deadline, with the winning one being submitted at Glebe Trotters.

McCormack says he intends to continue shopping in the Glebe during Glebe Spree for his chance to win the grand prize of a $10,000 shopping spree in the Glebe.

“Winning doesn’t change our pattern, we are here all the time,” he said.
“There really is a lot going on down here with Lansdowne and the rest of the shops here in the Glebe, you are really offering quite a lot.”

Kunstadt Sports owner Eric Kunstadt, McKeen Metro Glebe owner Rebecca McKeen, Bank of Montreal Lansdowne Branch Manager Eugenia Tsetlin and Ottawa East Market Regional Vice President Omar Abouzaher, as well as Glebe BIA Executive Director Andrew Peck awarded the prize at Kunstadt Sports in the Glebe on Friday afternoon.

“We are very happy to be involved with the Glebe Spree Early Bird Prize again this year,” said Kunstadt.

“We love being a part of this community and getting involved with all kinds of events, and this is one of our favourites.”

Now in its sixth year, Glebe Spree is a popular contest made possible thanks to our title sponsors McKeen Metro Glebe and Bank of Montreal at Lansdowne, and Early-Bird Prize contributor Kunstadt Sports, as well as the nearly 160 merchants taking part in the contest this year.

Glebe Spree will give one lucky shopper a $10,000 shopping spree in the Glebe.

This year has seen an even greater level of participation from both shoppers and merchants and it’s exciting to see the Glebe alive for the holidays.

Shoppers and diners in the Glebe have a chance to win all throughout December, with the $10,000 grand prize being drawn on January 9, 2017.
