Glebe BIA wins three leading industry awards
The Glebe BIA received three leading industry awards this past weekend at the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) National Conference for its work on the Get-it-in-the-Glebe marketing campaign, Glebe Spree contest and Canadian Eats food event in 2018.
“We would like to thank our businesses for their participation and our loyal customers for their support,” says Glebe BIA Executive Director Andrew Peck. “The Glebe is a hotspot, a favourite destination for all things fun and one of Canada’s great downtown neighbourhoods.”
In the Marketing + Communications Large category, the Glebe BIA was awarded the top prize for its Get-it-in-the-Glebe marketing campaign, which leveraged social media and digital networks to promote the Glebe as a top-of-mind destination and generate awareness for all the area has to offer. Since its inception, the campaign has yielded more than 24 million impressions online.
The Glebe BIA was also recognized in the Special Events and Promotions – Large category for the latest edition of its popular Glebe Spree contest. The promotion rewards loyal shoppers with a chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree, weekly cash prizes and daily giveaways. The 2018 initiative was the most successful to date with a record 33,284 ballots entered, representing nearly $5M in economic activity.
Canadian Eats received the award for Special Events + Promotions – Small category for its innovation and creativity. Each year leading up to Canada Day, local chefs and restaurants put Canada on a plate to create an inspired menu celebrating our national cuisine. Nearly 40 restaurants participated in the promotion with marketing efforts yielding a total of 1.7 million impressions online.
OBIAA recognizes the best that Business Improvement Association revitalization and management has to offer. The BIA National Conference of 2019 was held at The Westin in Ottawa from March 31 to April 3, 2019.
