Glebe Community Projects
These diverse projects enrich community life and deepen personal and business connections in the Glebe.
Transforming a featureless outdoor area into a dynamic, lively summer social scene with seating, bike parking, shaded areas and a games table is the goal of the Sidestreet Parklets project — an inspired partnership between the Glebe BIA, Underground Sound, the City of Ottawa, the Glebe Community Association and Carleton University. One of the ways the Glebe BIA brings spaces to life is through commissioned murals, including two in the heart of the community and a third under the Highway 417 underpass at the entrance to the Glebe. We’re looking for mural artists to help make the Glebe an even more creative place.
Our premiere Christmas promotion generates several million dollars in sales for Glebe businesses every year. Over the last three years more than 30,000 shoppers have entered to win the grand prize of a $10,000 Glebe shopping spree. Click here for contest details.
The Glebe BIA installs colourful banners on Bank Street to promote signature events and new initiatives.
