Close to 30 Glebe businesses up for Faces Magazine Awards

If you take a peek at the 2017 Faces of Ottawa Magazine Award Nominees, you’ll see that businesses in the Glebe have clearly turned heads this past year.

Scores of Glebe businesses have been nominated for several of the magazine’s awards this year, with Third Avenue Spa leading the way with an impressive four nominations, including Best Place to Work, Best Customer Service, Best Business Owner (Patricia Bertoli) and top Esthetician Gina Spingle.

Oresta Organic Skin Care is also up for Best Spa in Ottawa at this year’s awards.

Local Lansdowne is right behind them with three nods this year for Best Sports Bar, Best Business Lunch Location, and Best After Work Drinks. Local’s sister restaurant Joey also racked up two nominations for Best Business Lunch Location and Best After Work Drinks. Jack Astor’s also joins the two Lansdowne restaurants for Best After Work Drinks.

Lansdowne Dental has clearly been cleaning teeth the right way, as the dental clinic is up for Best Dental Clinic at this year’s awards, while Hailey Beauchamp Lloyd was nominated as Best Dental Assistant.

Ottawa Sports and Entertainment CEO Jeff Hunt is up for Entrepreneur of the Year, and it’s no surprise given what his organization has been able to bring to Ottawa – from the NHL Outdoor game to the massive Grey Cup Festival that took over the Glebe for a week in November.

Bloomfields Flowers in the Glebe is up for Best Florist, while Danielle Gauthier from Hair on Second Avenue is vying for Best Female Hairstylists. Gauthier’s salon is also up for Best Salon.

For Best Burger, the Works and Jack Astor’s get the nod, while Bridgehead is up for Best Coffee Shop. Those looking for late night grub can head to Kettleman’s bagel and you’ll soon understand why the 24-hour eatery is up for Best Late-Night Food.

If you’re ever looking to impress on a first date, head to the Fourth Avenue Wine Bar, or Milestones at Lansdowne, as the trendy cocktail bars are for Best Date Spot.

Got a sweet tooth? Head to Cocoa 70 at Lansdowne and find out why they’ve been nominated for Best Dessert Spot.

Recruiters LRO staffing are up for Best Employment/Staffing Agency while Goodlife Fitness at Lansdowne has been nominated for Best Fitness Centre.

Lansdowne’s Structube is up for Best Furniture Store while the Clocktower is up for Best Brewery.

In the Best Jeweller category, four Glebe shops are in the running, including Davidson’s Jewellers, Magpie Jewellery, Goldart Jewellery Studio, and Sarah Walsh Bridal Jewellery.

Pet Valu is up for Best Pet Store, while Lansdowne Pet Hospital gets the nod for Best Veterinary Hospital.  Glen Paradis’ Barnstormer Studio is up for Best Tattoo Parlour in the city, while Marketing company Cinnamon Toast is up for Best Marketing Company.
